Checker Hop -- by Steve Carr
Written during Christmas vacation, 1986
In this game or puzzle, 48 checkers are placed on the two outside
spaces of a regular checkerboard. The object is to remove as many checkers
as possible by diagonal jumps (as in standard checkers).
It is easy to remove 30 to 39 checkers, a challenge to remove 40 to 44,
and a substantial feat to remove 45 to 47.
Included with the .ARC file was a game file "forty-four". In my best
game so far, I've been able to make 44 jumps, so I thought that I would
share this with you. To view my game, run "Checker Hop" with AmigaBASIC,
select the V (view) option, and when prompted for a file name, type in
forty-four. After the first checker moves, press any key except ESC to get
the next move.
Note: Checker Hop is based on a game that appeared in "Basic Computer
Games", by David H. Ahl, but contains none of the original code and is far
superior in graphics and the user interface.
If you ever somehow manage to make 47 jumps, please contact me on CompuServe
user ID# 73310,1433; or on THE WAVE bbs.
Execute the EXEHOP file to rename the CKHOP files to "Checker Hop" files.
